Residential Care Home is also known as a Board and Care Home. They provide care to small groups of Seniors. Most of these homes have 6 or fewer residents. They are typically located in the middle of regular residential neighborhoods because they are usually private homes that were converted and staffed for small group living. Rooms may be private or shared. Residents receive assistance with personal care, 24-hour supervision, medication management, meals, housekeeping, laundry and have staff available around the clock.
Assisted Living offers minimal to full assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living. They manage medications, offer a full schedule of activities and provide transportation. They prepare all your meals and you have your own space, usually a studio. Home Health care is a wide range of health care services than can be given in your home for an illness or injury. They can provide skilled services, including nursing care and physical, occupation, speech and respiratory therapy. The agency will send a licensed professional to assess home health needs and develop a complete care plan. These services are usually short-term. Medicare will cover home health if it is ordered by a physician and the person is homebound and in need of skilled services.
